If you’re new to betta fish it would be better if you buy plakat or veiltail. These two are easy to keep. The veilteil is the cheapest betta around so if it dies after a couple of days at least you don’t spend too much for it.
However if you’re used to keeping tropical fish in the house then buying a halfmoon would be okay. And if you’re an expert in keeping betta fish or tropical fish in general then you’re ready to get yourself a crowntail.
What about wild bettas?
Different wild bettas have different difficulty levels in keeping and breeding. The chanoides is considered easy and macrostoma is the hardest. Their respective prices also resembles their difficulty levels.
